National Commander, The American Legion 

Jimmie L. Foster, National Commander, The American LegionJimmie was born and raised on a farm in Oklahoma. He graduated from Northeastern A&M College in Miami, Oklahoma where he received a degree in Agriculture Education. While there, he met and married his wife, Reha. After working in the textiles and grocery business, he pursued his military career. 

He joined the Marines and was stationed at Camp Pendleton and the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, California. Upon his discharge, he spent a period of time in school and then enlisted in the Army. He retired in August, 1994 after serving as Chief Legal NCO at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. 

Jimmie has 29 years of outstanding service in the American Legion. His offices and appointments include Post Adjutant, Post Commander, National Executive Committeeman, Chairman of the National Legislative Commission, and Department Commander of Alaska. 

He and Reha have two sons and four grandchildren. They have all been active members of the American Legion, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Sons of the American Legion in Anchorage. Reha is a Past Department, Western District and Unit President.
